HSR7302 Scientific Writing and Communication

Course Description

The overall objective of this course is to equip students with the knowledge and skills in the writing process and teach the fundamentals of effective scientific writing; and to review and critic a published article. Instruction will focus primarily on the process of writing and publishing scientific manuscripts.

Course objectives

At the end of this course therefore students should be able to: i) Demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and concisely to a scientific audience; ii) Conduct a literature review and critique a scientific publication; iii) Demonstrate ability to use a referencing software; iv) Write a publishable scientific manuscript; v) Conduct a scientific presentation; and vi) To understand the steps involved in submitting a scientific manuscript for publication
